I know that I always love seeing how other people’s vanities are set up so I thought I should do a little tour of my own for those who are interested! I recently outgrew my old vanity so for my birthday I got this lovely little set up from IKEA. My makeup desk is made up using the Alex drawer unit, Alex add on unit and the Linnmon table top. The whole thing ran me about $150. Also, check out those windows on either side! I kind of lucked out with the vanity placement.
A little closer view overall view before we really get into it!
My main lipstick holder! I like to keep lipstick brands together for whatever reason so whatever lipstick brands didn’t quite fit into this holder are living together elsewhere on my vanity. Here I keep my MAC, Kat Von D, Too Faced, Urban Decay and YSL lipsticks. I picked up this handy little piece at The Container Store but there is a practically identical piece on Amazon.
I had to decorate my vanity a little for Halloween so I found this sparkly skull a home on top of my three drawer organizer! Again, I got this at The Container Store but there is a very similar piece on Amazon. In the container to the left of the drawers, I keep various setting sprays, mixing mediums, etc. as well as hang my tweezer and eyelash curlers on it, as you can see! lol I also always like to keep a container of Q-Tips around because they can be really useful little tools!
In the top drawer I keep most of my eye related cream products like a few shades of Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow, Inglot’s AMC Eyeliner Gel, Maybelline Color Tattoos, NYX Eyeshadow Bases and a couple other things.
The middle drawer is chocked full of more lipsticks, which are totally my weakness! As you can see, I have bunches of the NYX Matte Lipsticks, which I really love.
I also have a little box full of eyeshadow singles from Kiko, Urban Decay, NYX, MAC and lots of other brands! I recently depotted some of my favorite MAC shadows though and they’re now living happily alongside my Makeup Geek singles in a Z Palette.
Check out this beast of an organizer! I received this as a gift from my husband last Christmas and it’s proving really useful. Here I keep a few more lipsticks, a hoard of NYX lip liners, NYX Matte Lip Creams & Butter Glosses, glitter liners, lash glue, brow pencils and just various other makeup bits.
Mascaras, primers and brow gels fill up this little container!
Here I keep all of my foundations although lately I’ve been pretty much exclusively wearing Make Up For Ever’s HD Foundation. Also, a cute little Frankenstein! =D
All of my brushes! Whew. It was really difficult to find a way to store so many brushes and while this still isn’t ideal, it’s working out. I partially filled this multi-compartmental piece with rice to help my brushes stay up right rather than just falling all over the place and it’s pretty much working. It really could use a little more rice though and I have no idea why I haven’t put more in it yet..
The top drawer on my Alex drawer unit contains most of my “face” related products such as powders, concealers, cream highlighters and contour colors, color correctors, etc.
The second drawer holds all of my eyeshadow palettes! Makeup Geek, Anastasia, Lorac, Urban Decay, Too Faced and lots more.
The third drawer is a little random. It holds various lip products including lots of Buxom glosses, all of my eyeliners and my collection of eyelashes. So what about the other 2 drawers? Well one is still totally empty and waiting for me to hoard more makeup and the bottom drawer just contains some office supplies such as Post-It’s, pens, tape, etc.
Wondering where my mirror is yet? Well here ya go! I moved it to take pictures because it’s so big and was blocking a lot of things. The mirror I use is an Ott-lite Makeup Mirror. I’ve had it for about a year now and have been really pleased with it! The light it offers is the best I’ve personally found in a makeup mirror and that’s the most important aspect to me. One gripe is that the mirror doesn’t like to stay angled in certain positions and just wants to fall straight again so I just wedge a piece of paper in the side of it and roll with it.
And that’s my makeup desk, folks! Hope you enjoyed the tour! =)
