Jeffree Star’s Liquid Lipstick in Blue Velvet and Extreme Beauty Tour Update!

So as some of you probably know, I recently went to the Jeffree Star Extreme Beauty Tour in Detroit and as promised, I’m back with an update!

I’ve got to start off by saying it was an all around amazing experience from start to finish! We had some extra time to kill in Detroit so we went out for delicious food and drinks, did a little sight seeing and even found an amazing little “beach” area downtown! Now we all know Detroit has a pretty bad rep and I only stayed in one specific area of the city the whole time but I loved what I saw! Cute and delicious restaurants and bars around every corner, the area was super clean and beautiful and seriously like every single person we spoke to was incredibly & unusually nice!

So let’s get on to the class!

Jeffree Star’s Extreme Beauty Tour

Jeffree himself was super amazing! He was so friendly, chatty and personable, encouraged us all to ask him questions or offer each other suggestions, answered each question someone had, and did a great job at not only explaining each step he was doing on the model but also the products he was using and why he was using each product for each specific step. He also gave suggestions personalized product suggestions to people throughout the whole class. All in all, very informative!

It was a 4 hour class with a break 2 hours in with snacks and refreshments. The class was pretty small, probably 30-40 people so it was really intimate and nice. Jeffree did a full face demo on his model including her base, eyes, lashes, lips, contouring, the whole shebang! He even made her cry glitter. 😛

Jeffree working his magic on his beautiful model!

Obviously you’re going to need Sugarpill on the Extreme Beauty Tour.

Recent Makeup Looks 3/1/2015

So clearly I’ve been slacking on keeping up with my 100 days of makeup posts! I’ve actually been slacking a little with doing makeup every single day but shhh! We don’t have to talk about that part. As as it turns out, it’s really hard to do something every single day but I want to kick myself in the butt and get back to the program! My husband started a new job recently which means we’ve been getting up much earlier which means I should have more hours in the day to beat this face from now on! 😛

Anyway, here is one big, gigantic post full of all of the makeup looks I’ve done since my last 100 days of makeup post!

Day 8

Using Sugarpill Poison Plum, Melt Cosmetic’s Dark Matter and the Too Faced Pretty Rebel Palette for this eye look! The rhinestones are just regular ole’ craft store gems glued on with eyelash glue. My lips are MAC lipliner in Stone topped with Sigma Beauty Lip Vex in All Heart, which is such a gorgeous chocolately color! Lashes are Red Cherry 74’s. I felt like I was ready for a performance with Cirque du Soleil! 😛

Day 9

Went for a pretty casual eye using Makeup Geek’s Vanilla Bean, Peach Smoothie, Frappe and Cocoa Bear + Urban Decay’s X and Red Cherry 83 lashes but I couldn’t resist using NYX’s High Voltage in Dirty Talk on my lips! Such an insanely gorgeous shade of brown.

Day 10

Can you guess who got a big package of Glitter Injections in the mail? This girl! First instinct was to top Limecrime’s Chinchilla lipstick with this gorgeous glitter.

Day 11

A pretty pinky look in anticipation of Valentine’s day! Used a concoction of shadows from Makeup Geek, Sugarpill, Urban Decay and Too Faced plus more glitter from Glitter Injections! Lashes again are Red Cherry 83’s.

New video! January Favorites!

So it’s the time again! I skipped out on December because I was taking a vacation for basically that whole month but I’m back with a new video featuring my favorite products of January!

I apologize for my partially cut off head but new set ups are hard. I’ll be sure to make sure my full head is included in future videos! =P

Many of my favorite products of January have, not surprisingly, already been featured on my blog because I love to blog about products that I really like. The items featured in my January Favorites video are:

NYX Matte Lipstick – Two posts!

For a review of the formula and swatches of Sweet Pink, Indie Flick, Euro Trash, Butter & Hippic Chic – http://sultrysuburbia.com/nyx-matte-lipstick-swatches-review/

For swatches of Forbidden, Nude, Summer Breeze & Alabama – http://sultrysuburbia.com/nyx-matte-lipstick-swatches/

Melt Cosmetics Dark Matter Stack – http://sultrysuburbia.com/melt-cosmetics-dark-matter-review/

MAC Stone Lip Liner – http://sultrysuburbia.com/mac-lip-liners-soar-stone-nightmoth/

My Makeup Eraser was sent to me by – http://instagram.com/ahodge.makeuperaser/

So in addition to this video just going up, I also have an eyeshadow tutorial filmed that I need to edit and it should be up within a few days! The more videos I film, the more I really like it so I’m definitely going to keep this up. I have lots of suggestions from you guys written down for future videos but I am, of course, always open to more.

My video set up is such a pain though! It’s cramped, there is stuff everywhere and it takes a long time to get it all set up and ready to film. It kind of deters me from filming as much as I’d like to but very, very soon I’m going to reevaluate my makeup room and see what I can do to make a more easily usable set up happen so I can keep these videos flowing!

Let me know what you think of this video as well as your thoughts on the products! <3

100 Days of Makeup Challenge – Week 1

I recently decided that I’m going to do a 100 Days of Makeup Challenge after seeing people on Instagram and around the web doing different makeup challenges. I’m not following any guidelines or rules, I’m just making myself do makeup every day for 100 consecutive days all while trying to learn as much as possible in that time.

I really want to push myself to improve and this seemed like a great and fun way to do so! I was only wearing makeup 4-5 days a week before this challenge and that left for 2-3 days a week where I’m not practicing and not learning anything! Of course, I don’t always feel like doing a full face every day but even when I don’t do a full face, I still plan on doing some sort of cool eye or lip look so I can get that sweet, sweet practice in! 😉

I know it’s early in the challenge but I already feel like it’s helping me a lot! Not long ago, I really struggled with cut crease looks. I would draw the line and then wipe it off and redraw it three more times before I would get it right and it usually got pretty frustrating. Lately I’ve done a couple of cut crease looks for the challenge and it’s already became pretty easy for me! No wiping off, just a little careful planning after realizing where I was messing up previously and ta-da! Cut crease.

Day 1

Okay,  so I counted my Sugarpill Tutorial for Day 1.

Day 2

For this eye look I used the Melt Cosmetics Dark Matter stack for my eyeshadow, added Lit Cosmetics Glitter in Mexican Lucky to my inner corner and added some little dots to the outer portion of my eyes using various eyeliners. My lip combo here is MAC Stone lipliner + NYX Matte Lipstick in Butter with a dab of MAC’s Myth lipstick in the center.

You can see the dots a little better here!

Sugarpill Burning Heart Palette Tutorial

Hey guys! So I finally got around to creating a tutorial for the look I did in my Sugarpill Burning Heart Palette Review post. Today I’m running on about 2 hours of sleep and ridiculous amounts of caffeine so I consider this a pretty big accomplishment! Let’s just try to excuse any mistakes I make along the way. 😛

Sugarpill Burning Heart Palette Tutorial

Before I get started with any shadow, I’m going to prime and put down a base. I’m using Too Faced’s Shadow Insurance primer and a thin layer of NYX’s White Eyeshadow Base.

Sugarpill Burning Heart Palette Tutorial

The first shadow I’m going to use is Blur (light peachy tan) from the Melt Cosmetics Dark Matter stack. I’m using my Makeup Addiction blending brush to place this in and above my crease, stopping a little under my brow bone to create a very natural looking transition.

Sugarpill Burning Heart Palette Tutorial

Next I’m going in with in with Sugarpill’s Buttercupcake (yellow) and that same brush and basically placing it in the same area only not taking it quite as high this time.

Recent Face of the Days 1/24/2015

Hey guys! Sorry that I haven’t been posting lately but life has kept me soo busy! We’re considering moving so I’ve been on this mad dash trying to find a good apartment in time and I haven’t had much time to dedicate to my blog recently but I’ve got big plans for the future and all of this craziness should be over very soon! 😉

I know that not all of you follow me on Instagram so I figured I’d make a quick post showing you some of my recent looks as well as the details for them.

For the natural part of this eyeshadow look, I used Makeup Geek’s Peach Smoothie, Beaches and Cream, Taupe Notch, Purely Naked and Sweet Dreams & the green is from my Coastal Scents 252 Palette. This white liner is Stila’s Stay All Day in Snow. It looks super cool but I wouldn’t really recommend it. It’s hard to get opaque. I really need to break and order a good white liner! I’m also wearing Make Up For Ever’s Rouge Artist Intense in #50 on my lips.

This eyeshadow look was done with the Sephora Facets of Marsala Palette which I ADORE! The color choices in this palette are just blowing my mind since I’m a total sucker for reds and warm shades in general. Overall, I really love the Facets of Marsala Palette but certain shades have some serious fallout issues so you’ll probably want to do your eyes first with this! It appears to be sold out online but your local store might still have a few around! 😉

I’m wearing NYX Cosmetics Euro Trash on my lips and House of Lashes Temptress Wispy lashes.
