Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick Review in Cava

Today we meet Cava, my first ever Bite Beauty product! I picked up this little gem a while ago at the Sephora VIB Rouge holiday event and let me tell you, it was a fantastic choice! Bite Beauty’s Luminous Creme Lipstick in Cava is truly a unique shade and despite my ever growing lipstick collection, I don’t have anything else quite like it. I knew from the beginning that this was a product that I had to review for you guys!

Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick in Cava

Packaging: Grey lipstick tube that feels sightly velvety in your hand. The tip of the tube is shaped differently for reds, neutrals, pinks and berries. 8/10

Longevity: Good, especially for a cream lipstick! Expect at least 4 hour, if not more. 9/10

Application: Uber creamy upon application. Glides over lips like butter and is easily opaque.  8/10

Texture: Very creamy and moisturizing with a slightly wet looking finish. 8/10

The Bite Beauty line retails at Sephora and you can purchase the Luminous Creme Lipstick formula for $24. While strolling past the Bite Beauty display at my local Sephora, the stunningly unique Cava caught my eye and I stopped immediately to gawk and swatch it. It was truly gorgeous. But did I want to spend $24 on a single lipstick? I wasn’t so sure about that so I moseyed around for a while thinking on it before deciding that I did in fact need this lipstick. Cava is a beautiful lilac beige shade with slightly grey undertones and there is something about this color that I just adore.

Melt Cosmetics Dark Matter Review

Hey guys and gals! So as you probably noticed, I took a rather long holiday break to relax and enjoy time with my family and let me tell you, it was amazing! But I can’t spend the rest of my life lounging about and cuddling my fur babies so my break is officially over and I’m back to being a productive, makeup obsessed human being. 😛 While my break was much needed and much appreciated it, I am also really excited to be back! I’ve missed blogging, chatting with all of you and wearing copious amounts of makeup on a near daily basis. So yeah, I’m back full force now and ready to make 2015 a fantastic year!

Moving on to the good stuff, the Melt Cosmetics Dark Matter review!

Packaging: I think the stack is a pretty cool idea. It’s really unique and I like that but other than being aesthetically pleasing, it doesn’t offer any real advantages. Still neat.  9/10

Longevity: Wore well throughout the day with a primer. A tiny bit of creasing in my crease but really pretty minimal. 8/10

Application: Applies and blends well. Not the best blending eyeshadow I’ve ever seen but still good. 8/10

Texture: A couple shades were a little more powdery than I would have liked but still not a big deal. 7/10

Melt Cosmetics Dark Matter Review

Melt Cosmetics, a company known for their amazing and unique lipsticks, blew all of our minds when they announced that they would soon be introducing their own line of eyeshadows. Naturally when they released these on the 2nd, I couldn’t resist the urge to pick up Dark Matter, one of the two stacks that they’re offering.

Melt Cosmetics Dark Matter Review

Melt Cosmetics Dark Matter and their other stack, Love Sick, are being sold at meltcosmetics.com for $48 each. At first, the price seemed pretty excessive to me for 4 shades of eyeshadow but once you see how big these are, you may think differently!

My personal recommendations for Sigma Beauty are their powder blushes which are so soft, easy to blend and overall just dreamy and of course, their brushes! One set that I personally love is the Mrs. Bunny Travel Kit which I received as a gift last Christmas.

Sigma Beauty Mrs. Bunny Travel Kit

This kit contains 7 of their best selling brushes which have a use in every makeup routine! These brushes also come in a handy little travel carrier to protect your babies during transit and the carrier also can double as two brush holders! I’ve been using these beauties for a year now and they’ve treated me great. This kit also contains one of my all time favorite brushes, the Sigma E40, which is a must-have blending brush.

Sigma Beauty Swatches

In my previous post, I went into some details on the Sigma 3DHD Precision brush, the Sigma E55 & the Sigma E06 and now I’m back to share some swatches and thoughts of the Sigma Beauty makeup products that I received!

Lip Vex

Sigma Lip Vex All Heart

The Lip Vex ($10) that I received is in the shade All Heart which is a sheer chocolaty brown with a sort of mauvey undertone. On the lips it appeared as a sheer wash of natural color and boy did it SHINE! The finish was really glossy and beautiful. It had a slightly tacky yet not sticky consistency, was surprisingly moisturizing and smelled/tasted like vanilla cake. I don’t wear a lot of lip gloss just by itself so I’m no lip gloss connoisseur but I felt like the formula was pretty nice.  Even after about 4 hours, although the gloss had indeed faded (I was also drinking & not with a straw) it was still definitely lingering on my lips. Even though I’m not a huge fan of only wearing gloss on my lips, I do love to add a little gloss on top of matte lipsticks to give them some shine or alter the color a little and I think this shade will be really nice for giving some of my lipsticks a slightly more natural hue.

Sigma Blush in Heavenly

This beautiful peachy shade is called Heavenly ($12) and is my first Sigma blush that I’ve tried. When I swatched it I was immediately surprised by how soft and pigmented it was! While great pigmentation is normally a good thing, it makes me slightly nervous when it comes to blush because I’m always afraid of ending up with overly pigmented, patchy blush all over my pale cheeks but that didn’t happen here. This blush actually blended into the skin really easily and wasn’t at all patchy. I also feel like the color of this shade is just perfect and I’m sure it’ll be getting a lot of love from me. This blush, like most blushes, did fade a little throughout the day but was still noticeably there at the end of the day. Seriously a lovely product and a gorgeous shade.

Sigma Brushes Review

Hey guys! I recently became a Sigma Beauty affiliate and that is making me such a happy camper! Since I want to be open with you guys, me being a Sigma Beauty affiliate means that if you click on one of my affiliate links and then place an order, I could receive a small commission on that sale, at no extra expense to you of course. If you don’t like that, you can always avoid my links and just head straight to the Sigma website to do your shopping.

If you’re in the market for some new products, be sure to use code “NOV2014” for 10% off your entire order!

So moving on! I got my very first Sigma brushes last Christmas when my husband surprised me with the Mrs. Bunny Travel Kit. I’ve been using these brushes pretty much daily since then and I really love them! They are all SO soft, have held up perfectly well and the E40 blends like a champ.

When I was told that I would be receiving a welcome gift, I was practically giddy with excitement waiting to see what lovely Sigma goodies were in store for me! I’ve loved their brushes for a while now but hadn’t had the chance to try out any of their makeup products before so I was super stoked when it arrived. I’ve had this package for several days now but I wanted to wait until I could get a chance to actually use everything before sharing this post with you.

Sigma was kind enough to send me the Sigma E55 brush, the Sigma E06 brush, the Sigma 3DHD Precision brush, a Lip Vex, a powder blush, a gel eyeliner and samples of their highlighters in my welcome package so that I could try these things out!

Today I’m going to be discussing and reviewing the brushes with you and tomorrow I’ll be sharing the makeup products.

The brushes

While Sigma makes some lovely makeup products, they’re probably best known for their awesome brushes.

This brush is unlike any other brush I’ve ever seen. Not gonna lie, when I first got a look at the Sigma 3DHD Precision brush I was slightly perplexed and was just wondering “How is this going to benefit me?” because initially it just didn’t really look like it was going to be terribly useful. After using it though, it actually turned out to be a really nice brush! It’s hard to show the shape of this brush in photos so I’m including this handy dandy tiny little video so you guys can get a better idea of how this brush looks.

Some of my favorite brushes!

I’ve had several people ask me to make a post talking about some of my favorite makeup brushes so I figured I’d better get to it. I’m a brush junkie and could probably sit down and write a novel if I wanted to talk about all of my favorite brushes but for the sake of this blog post and everyone’s sanity, I’ll just pick a few for now!

Favorite Makeup Brushes

Sigma E30

The Sigma E30 is a really useful little brush. The soft yet firm tapered bristles are well suited for many tasks around the eye such as smudging eyeliner, applying shadow to your lower lash line, creating defined lines in your crease or outer V and also for applying highlighting shades to the small areas in the inner corner of your eyes. Having a pencil brush in your collection is really an invaluable tool and I find myself using this particular one often.
