I somehow ended up goofing around & missing the chance to do my monthly favorites for February so I decided to just make one video and compile my monthly favorites for both February and March! Also, I meant to include Maybelline’s Daringly Nude lipstick in this video, which happens to be this beautiful nude that I’m wearing here, but it ended up not making it in! Oops. Still, it’s a lovely, budget friendly nude lipstick that I absolutely love!
When I first saw that the MAC Nordstrom Naturals Palette ($85) had been released, I tried to convince myself for a full 6 hours or so that I didn’t need this palette before realizing that that was completely insane and running out to Nordstrom half an hour before closing to pick this beauty up! I definitely made the right decision here. 😛
Packaging: Fantastic shades that work well together. Sturdy plastic with clear lid makes it easy to see all of your beautiful shades although I’ll never stop wishing for MAC to put shades names on palettes. 8/10
Longevity: All the looks I’ve done with this palette have held up well all day long with a primer. 9/10
Application: Most shades are well pigmented and apply & blend nicely. 9/10
Texture: The majority of the colors in this palette are super smooth although a couple of the mattes are a little dry. 8/10
In this palette, you get 15 nearly full-sized pans of MAC’s best-selling shades! Each of these pans are 1.3g where as the regular MAC pans are 1.5g so you’re only missing the tiniest amount of product compared to a full sized pan. I actually didn’t have any of the shades in this palette so I took that as a sign that this palette was meant to be in my life but whether or not this palette might be “worth it” to you might depend on what MAC eyeshadows you already have hanging around in your stash. If you don’t have most of these shades already, this palette is an awesome deal!
One regular MAC eyeshadow in the case is $16. One MAC refill pan (I think the individual pans are only sold online and at MAC Pro Stores) is $10. $10 per pan x 15 pans = $150 yet this palette is retailing for $85, making it as if each pan only costs about $5.66 each. If you’ve been thinking about expanding your eyeshadow collection, this might be a good time!
This palette is made of a sturdy plastic and has a clear top allowing you to see your shadows. The pans, unfortunately, do not seem to be easily removed from this palette so there’s no switching shades around or replacing them with other pans.
The 15 shades included in the MAC Nordstrom Naturals Eyeshadow Palette are:
I’ve got to start this by saying I am beyond ecstatic about my recent purchase of Maybelline’s Daringly Nude! I have two other shades in the Maybelline Creamy Matte lipstick line, Divine Wine and Touch of Spice, and I really love the formula so when I found myself wandering through the makeup aisle at the grocery store the other day, I decided on a whim to bring Daringly Nude home with me and holy shit, that was a fantastic decision!
I have a whole bunch of wonderful lipsticks that I love probably way too dearly but I don’t really have a go-to nude shade. Until now. Maybelline’s Creamy Matte lipstick in Daringly Nude is the nude that has been missing from my life. So neutral yet so beautiful and I just adore this on my skin tone. Basically it’s the nude lipstick of my dreams and you guys are probably going to be seeing this on my face all too often now. In this picture I’ve paired it with a little of MAC’s lip liner in Soar.
So clearly I’ve been slacking on keeping up with my 100 days of makeup posts! I’ve actually been slacking a little with doing makeup every single day but shhh! We don’t have to talk about that part. As as it turns out, it’s really hard to do something every single day but I want to kick myself in the butt and get back to the program! My husband started a new job recently which means we’ve been getting up much earlier which means I should have more hours in the day to beat this face from now on! 😛
Anyway, here is one big, gigantic post full of all of the makeup looks I’ve done since my last 100 days of makeup post!
Went for a pretty casual eye using Makeup Geek’s Vanilla Bean, Peach Smoothie, Frappe and Cocoa Bear + Urban Decay’s X and Red Cherry 83 lashes but I couldn’t resist using NYX’s High Voltage in Dirty Talk on my lips! Such an insanely gorgeous shade of brown.
Can you guess who got a big package of Glitter Injections in the mail? This girl! First instinct was to top Limecrime’s Chinchilla lipstick with this gorgeous glitter.
A pretty pinky look in anticipation of Valentine’s day! Used a concoction of shadows from Makeup Geek, Sugarpill, Urban Decay and Too Faced plus more glitter from Glitter Injections! Lashes again are Red Cherry 83’s.
Today I want to share with you another top-notch drug store product, Maybelline’s Color Elixir Lip Colors ($7)! I originally picked up three of these a couple of months ago and ended up loving them so much that I recently bought two more shades. Now that I have my own little rainbow of these amazing lip colors, I thought it was time to share my Maybelline Color Elixir review and swatches with you guys!
OVERALL REVIEW: 8.5
Packaging: Clear tube that looks like a lipstick bullet is encased inside which I think is pretty cute. The top screws on and stays put. 9/10
Longevity: Lasts well for a gloss, even hanging around while eating and drinking. 7/10
Application: Easy to apply with the slanted and tapered doe-foot applicator. 9/10
Texture: Silky and slightly tacky without being overly sticky. 9/10
So clearly I don’t have many negative things to say about Maybelline’s Color Elixir Lip Colors! These babies have a lot of strong points and are definitely one of my favorite lip gloss formulas.
These are some super pigmented glosses which is one of the reasons why I love them so much! Unlike many glosses which just give you a slight tint, these glosses give you full on color. They’re great on their own and some shades pack a real punch but they’re also really fantastic to layer over lipsticks to add shine and/or alter the color.
Another great thing about the Maybelline Color Elixirs is that they have a pretty impressive wear time for a gloss. This is not an all day lip color but they generally last between 2-6 hours, more towards the latter if you aren’t eating or drinking without a straw though. However even with eating, there’s no real need to panic about how your lip color looks as these do stick around pretty damn well.
The formula of these is also really nice! They feel silky and only slightly tacky on the lips. I can’t stand when glosses are so sticky that they make my lips feel like I’ve slathered them in honey or something but these are really pleasant, light and comfortable to wear. These are also quite moisturizing and I never feel like my lips are drying out. Quite the opposite, in fact!
They do have a scent/fragrance though so be warned if you’re sensitive to such things. It’s difficult to describe but it’s almost like a vanilla spice with something a little…perfumey in there. I don’t find it to be too over powering though.
These come with a slanted and slightly tapered doe-foot applicator that makes applying them precisely a breeze.
Hey guys! Some of you may have read on here a few weeks ago that I was going to start sharing my monthly favorites with all of you. At that time, I was planning on doing it in blog posts but then I made a YouTube channel and figured “Hey, why not just start with a video?” so that’s what I did! 😛
I’ve had my eye on this stunning shade for a while now but up until a couple of days ago, I couldn’t find it in stock in any stores! So naturally when I did find it, I snatched it up real quick. I already knew I was going to love this lipstick considering I already own Touch of Spice, another shade in the line, and have been super pleased with the formula.
