New Makeup Geek Brushes!

New Makeup Geek Brushes Review

Hey guys! I recently had the opportunity to try out three new brushes that Makeup Geek released not long ago and I wanted to share my thoughts on these brushes with you! There are some products that I don’t need to test long before I know if I’m going to like them or not but I like to test brushes out for quite a while to see how they perform before I come to a final conclusion on them. I’ve had these new Makeup Geek brushes for a few weeks now and have used each of them many times so I feel like I can finally give you guys a solid review. These brushes are all synthetic and cruelty free so no need to worry about our furry little friends!

Makeup Geek Chiseled Cheek Brush

First up we have the Makeup Geek Chiseled Cheek Brush! This brush is designed to help you perfectly carve out your cheek bones to add depth an definition to your face.

This brush, like all the others, is super soft and feels great on your face.

Makeup Geek Chiseled Cheek Brush Review

Here is the Makeup Geek Chiseled Cheek Brush next to a similar Sonia Kashuk brush that I don’t believe is being sold any longer. The Makeup Geek brush is far softer and glides more easily over the skin creating a perfectly smooth line while its Sonia Kashuk counterpart tends to drag a little more and can sometimes leave faint brush lines that are difficult to get rid of completely.

This brush also has a bit of extra room in the ferrule like the Makeup Geek Dual Ended Brow Brush but I honestly don’t really see it as much of an issue in this brush. I feel like the room allows the bristles to sway a little more to create a very smooth, fluid line rather than one super sharp streak down your face.

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks in Celebrity Skin & 714

Hey guys! I ended up liking the formula of my Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Blue Velvet so much that I decided to add two more shades to my collection, 714 and Celebrity Skin. I’m just going to gloss over the formula here since I’ve already done a more in depth review of Blue Velvet. If you want to see my review of Blue Velvet (and the Jeffree Star Extreme Beauty Tour deets) you can check it out here!

Let’s star with the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in 714! 714 is an absurdly gorgeous pinkish coral shade that doesn’t really resemble any other shades in my stash. I think it’s a really unique color and am 100% in love with this shade! I did find that it applied  a tiny bit patchy at first but I just let it dry, applied another thin coat and it was perfect.

714 is what dreams are made of!

Blog Parade! Theme: Green Summer!

Hi, loves! A couple of weeks ago I was approached & asked to participate in this months German/American Blog Parade hosted by the lovely Isabell of Morgan LeFlay Beauty! The Blog Parade is basically several German and American bloggers coming together to collaborate on a makeup theme and share some love!

Green Glittery Eyeshadow

June’s theme is Green Summer! Have I ever mentioned that green is my least favorite color? Because it is. 😛 Despite me having a weird relationship with the color green, I figured this would be a great opportunity to push myself to do something that I normally wouldn’t so I was actually kind of jazzed about the theme once I got to thinking about it.

So I present to you, green glitter halo eyes!

OFRA Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick Review and Swatches

OFRA Cosmetics liquid lipsticks

I recently had the opportunity to try out a bunch of goodies from OFRA Cosmetics for the first time and being the lipstick junkie that I am, these liquid lipsticks are what I wanted to share & review for you guys first!

Packaging: The packaging is inconsistent and feels a bit haphazard.  5/10

Longevity: As they claim, these are definitely long wearing yet will need a touch up after eating. 8/10

Application: Two of the shades applied with zero trouble, one shade requires a little working with. 7/10

Texture: Matte yet creamy and slightly tacky to the touch. 9/10

OFRA Cosmetics describes their liquid lipsticks ($19.90) as “One step full lip color that does not feather. These vibrant colors will give you a vivacious look. They are creamy and soft in texture, moisturizing the lips and creating a long lasting lipstick effect. All shades contain antioxidants and Vitamin E while the formula provides a lightweight layer of lasting color to make you feel fresh all day. Color will last in a perfect condition up to five hours without eating or drinking.” and I’ve found that all of that remains true!

I found that these lipsticks feel very comfortable and even moisturizing on the lips with no feeling of tightness, even after hours of wear. I just feel like I’m wearing a light layer of lip balm. Because of how nice and moisturizing they are, they also feel slightly tacky to the touch, even after they’ve set.

One thing that I think is really important to mention here is that the OFRA Cosmetics liquid lipsticks are not transfer proof. If you touch your lips against something, they will likely leave a mark. I found this to be a little surprising since most liquid lipsticks I’ve tried are very resistant to transfer. Despite this, these lipsticks really do wear very, very well! Like the website claims, they will last perfectly for approximately 5 hours without eating or drinking. I’ve actually found that drinking doesn’t seem to disrupt them much but they will fade a bit after eating.

The packaging is the one thing about this product that I found to be pretty disappointing. Two of my shades were in the same packaging while the third shade was in a shorter, yet wider tube. The shorter tube also had a slightly different logo that was facing a different direction. The logos are also simply just stickers instead of actually being printed on the tube. All of this together just made the packaging come across a bit haphazard to me.  This is all just an issue of aesthetics though as the packaging does its job perfectly well and has an easy to use doe-foot applicator.

Both Laguna Beach and Hollywood applied perfectly with one easy coat although Bondi Beach took a little working with for it to live up to its full potential. Bondi Beach needs two coats to really look its best or else it can appear a little patchy. I just apply my first layer, wait a minute or two so it has a little time to set, apply the second layer and ta-da! Stunning opaque blue.

February & March Favorites!

I somehow ended up goofing around & missing the chance to do my monthly favorites for February so I decided to just make one video and compile my monthly favorites for both February and March! Also, I meant to include Maybelline’s Daringly Nude lipstick in this video, which happens to be this beautiful nude that I’m wearing here, but it ended up not making it in! Oops. Still, it’s a lovely, budget friendly nude lipstick that I absolutely love!

Wet N Wild Comfort Zone Palette Review

Over the past couple of months I’ve discovered that budget-friendly beauty brand Wet n Wild has quite a few gems in their product line, including their MegaLast Lipsticks, which I absolutely love.

I’m a sucker and always have to run through the makeup aisles whenever I go to the store so I picked up the Wet N Wild Comfort Zone Palette for about $5 recently during a late night grocery run. 😀

Wet N Wild Comfort Zone Palette

Packaging: Clear plastic lid. Reasonably sturdy for the price and snaps securely. 7/10

Longevity: Slight creasing with some darker shades after a full day. 7/10

Application: Well pigmented and easy peasy to blend! 9/10

Texture: Very smooth and soft. 9/10

The Wet N Wild Comfort Zone Palette comes with 8 gorgeous shades that transfer well between day and night time looks. Every shade in this palette has a shimmery finish and while I can definitely appreciate some shimmer, I wish there was at least one matte shade to tone down the glow a little. Each shade in this palette is labeled as “browbone, crease, etc.” and while you can certainly put each shade wherever you wish, people who are new to makeup might appreciate having a clear direction mapped out!
