I’ve had Sephora VIB Rouge status for a while now but have yet to go to a single event so I thought I might as well look into this and see what the VIB Rouge Holiday Soiree is all about.
I was sort of on the fence about going for a while because social gatherings tend to make me a little anxious but I figured it couldn’t be that bad so I decided to buck up, put on my big girl panties and go do some makeup shopping while munching on peppermint bark.
The Sephora VIB Rouge Event was from 7-9pm and when I arrived, Sephora employees were set up outside of the doors checking names from their RSVP list and making you a little name card before you enter. Even though this was a closed event, the employees outside checking names were offering to run in to grab specific items for non-Rouge customers who had came by looking for something only to find that the store was in the midst of this event, which I thought was a very nice gesture.
I arrived around 7:15pm and was really surprised by how many people were there! I was expecting it to be kind of small and slow but apparently there are a lot of makeup addicts in my city because it was packed out. People were bumping into each other left and right but despite being crammed in like sardines, everyone seemed to be friendly and happy, presumably because a 20% off at Sephora coupon will keep any makeup junkie in good spirits.
They had a refreshment table set up with cookies, peppermint bark, chocolates, sparkling grape juice and little bottles of water so you could have a little snack while filling up your baskets.
Okay, so at first glance I thought these were little glasses of wine. I was only slightly disappointed when I realized it was grape juice.
In addition to the refreshment table, they had a couple of other tables set up including a “VIB Rouge Lip Station” where they were applying various lipsticks to customers and a “VIB Rouge Sparkle Station” where, as you probably can guess, they were applying glitter. They were also selling this glitter and I believe it was $18 per container. It was a little weird though because the container was like the size of the palm of my hand and was just an insane amount of glitter. I’ve actually been really wanting to buy some glitter lately but they only had 3 shades, all neutral, and I’ve been wanting something more colorful.
Even though the place was teeming with customers, it actually wasn’t so bad because it was also chocked full of employees. There was an employee waiting around every corner to assist you and I never had any trouble finding a free employee. They also had all of their cash registers open so checking out was pretty quick and painless.
At the checkout, the also gave you some freebies! Yay! A nice little tote bag so the world can know what a Sephora fiend you are.
And you also received a smaller travel sized bag containing several free samples! Inside the bag I found Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm, Dr. Jart BB Dis-A-Pore, Living Proof Perfect Hair Day styling treatment, Buxom Mascara, Benefit’s Watt’s Up, Laura Mercier Foundation Primer and Escada’s Born in Paradise. Everyone also received a Shashi bracelet in Sephora’s signature colors.
All in all, it was a nice experience and I’m a sucker for free samples (and peppermint bark) so I came home a happy girl. Has anyone else ever been to one of these events? What did you think of it? If you have any other questions about the events or Rouge in general, I’d be happy to answer!
