NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Callisto

NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Callisto

The NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows ($29) come in 12 gorgeous shades that are meant to be used both wet and dry. Applying them dry will give you a softer wash of color while applying them wet will give you a very high impact and really stunning almost metallic finish. Even when dry though, Callisto was easily buildable to a more opaque end result.

To get the most dramatic finish from the NARS Dual Intensity eyeshadows, simply use a brush damped with water (not soaking wet) and pat the eyeshadow into place, blending out the edges.

Callisto is a beautiful cool icy pink shade that almost leans a little pewter. The eyeshadow was really smooth and creamy, well pigmented, blended easily and literally still looked perfect at the end of the day when paired with my favorite primer, Too Faced Shadow Insurance.

Okay, okay. So I kind of made a mistake here. 😛 While Callisto is a beautiful color, it wasn’t the color I was originally trying to get! I picked this shade up about 3 weeks ago at the Sephora VIB Rouge Event and it had been sitting around unused until very recently. When I first swatched it I was like “Hmm, this isn’t the color I remember…” but I chalked it up to poor memory and different lighting. But after I used it and was sitting here putting this post together I was like “Nope, this just isn’t right.” and guess what? Turns out I totally grabbed the wrong shade! The shade I meant to get was Cassiopeia which is an iridescent pink. Soo I had to march back to Sephora to get the correct shade. I mean, the colors and names are both vaguely similar. Could have happened to anyone! 😉

The NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows come in a very sturdy feeling black plastic case that snaps securely and is fitted with a mirror for on-the-go makeuping! The eyeshadow itself is pressed into an attractive geometric design that almost made me feel a little bad for messing it up.

For the rest of my look here, I paired NARS Callisto with Makeup Geek eyeshadows in Beaches and Cream, Peach Smoothie, Cocoa Bear, Last Dance, and Purely Naked for a cool/warm eyeshadow look. I’m also wearing Agatha from my Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick Set on my lips, Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow in Medium Brown for my brows and Ardell 206 lashes!

Whew, it feels good to be back to blogging after spending a whole lot of time lounging around and being lazy during the holidays! 😛 On another note, I FINALLY have gotten around to getting a little Christmas shopping done. I’m seriously behind this year so far! Anyone else also wait until the last minute?

Have you guys tried any of the NARS Dual Intensity eyeshadows? If not, what’s your favorite wet/dry shadow?

  1. Can’t wait to see a review and look with Cassiopeia. I’m thinking I’ll pick up one of this eyeshadows and a Make Up Forever shadow with my VIB store credit code. Treat yo self, right?

    1. I can’t wait to use it! The shade is magical! 😀 And totally! haha I still can’t decide what I want to spend mine on.

      1. So I picked up Cassiopeia and I think I will actually be returning it. It’s not very pigmented and I definitely don’t want to keep it as an overlay. So sad! I practically had to scrub my brush into it to pick up color. Very underwhelming.
Thinking I’ll check out Callisto as a swap though.

        1. Bummer! I always thought Cassiopeia was so beautiful every time I swatched it in stores! Granted, I STILL haven’t swatched mine because I haven’t gotten around to photographing it yet. 😛 Did you try using it wet yet?

          1. Yeah! I was so frustrated. MUFE Mist and Fix, MAC Fix+, even contact saline, sticky base. I just didn’t love love it like the $30 price tag warranted. If it was $10 I would have held on to it.
I already have MUFE Star Powder in 942 (White/Mauve) and it gives me the white/pink/blue flash with less work. I also sometimes highlight with it… it’s fun

  2. Oh yes. I’m a pro a procrastination. I don’t want to think about it yet. Maybe I’ll start worrying about gifts on the 20th. The shade you’re wearing in the photo may not be what you wanted, but it is very beautiful! Thanks!! 🙂
