Ahh, few things in life make me happier than an awesome deal on awesome makeup. I decided to give my boring doctor’s visit the other day a happy ending by swinging by ULTA to snag some sweet NYX deals!
NYX was buy one, get one half off at Ulta when I went (this happens often so keep an eye out!), plus I had their weekly coupon for $3.50 off $10 (don’t ever go to ULTA and not use this!) and I had $3.00 off with ULTA rewards so I managed to pick up these 4 NYX products for a whopping $13 total! Whoohoo!
Eye and brow details for this look are down below but I’m also wearing NYX Black Berry liner, MUFE HD Foundation in 120, NYX Taupe Blush, Sigma Heavenly Blush, MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NC15, Anastasia Contour Kit, MAC Lustre Drops & Coty Airspun Powder.
NYX Color Mascara
I already had a few of the NYX Color Mascaras so it only seemed natural to pick up Perfect Pear, this awesome citrus green shade, to add to my collection.
Now since these are so fabulous and fun as mascaras, I decided to see how they would work as an eyeliner. And the result? Not well, not well at all! So don’t plan on this being a multipurpose tool. I had to try to save this brow look with the MUFE Flash Palette and that only sort of worked out. 😛
Other things that I’m wearing on my eyes here are 83 lashes, Makeup Geek Wisteria, Caitlin Rose, Peach Smoothie, Rapunzel & Taupe Notch shadows, Lit Cosmetics glitter in Afternoon Delight and the Anastasia Brow Powder Duo and Clear Brow Gel on my brows.
Here are swatches of the other NYX Color Mascara’s that I have! The blue looks all clumpy here but it actually isn’t. It just has a different brush and formula than the others so it swatched differently.
For colored mascaras, these actually have pretty nice pigmentation! The blue is fabulous. The others are wetter, dry slower and take a few layers to build up but if you have a tiny bit of patience, you can get some really fun results with these.
NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Black Berry
An affordable, black, lip-safe pencil? Say what?! Yup, NYX went there with their Slim Lip Pencil in Black Berry. I’ve never actually seen this shade in stores before and it was the only one left on shelves so I grabbed that up real quick. I was having a little bit of trouble getting it to fully build up in some parts of my lips but I may have had a tiny bit of balm left over there or something.
I have probably a dozen or more of these NYX lip liners! They have a huge range of shades, are very affordable and generally easy to work with.
NYX Matte Lipstick in Daydream
Yet another addition to my already insanely large collection of NYX Matte Lipsticks! I already have this and this post about these lipsticks and I’ve bought several more since then, including Daydream. These NYX Matte Lipsticks are my favorite drug store lipsticks and I won’t stop until I have them all! Muahaha!
I thought this gorgeous peach shade would be lovely for this Spring/Summer and I was right, it’s my perfect peach.
NYX Matte Lipstick in Daydream with NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Banana Split
You can never have enough Butter Gloss! I have several of these and absolutely adore them. They’re well pigmented (the Intense Butter Glosses even MORE so!), look lovely on their own or over lipstick and aren’t sticky! Well, at least I don’t think so. I’ve seen a couple of people say that they still find them to be sticky but I think this is pretty darn non-sticky if you still actually want a gloss. If you saw my post saying that the Intense Butter Gloss in Black Cherry Tart bled into my lip lines a little, you’ll be glad to know that this shade didn’t have that problem!
I don’t generally like to wear gloss on it’s own (don’t know why) but these are definitely a nice option to wear alone since they’re so well pigmented! I love to layer them over lipsticks though. They’re awesome to alter shades a little or to top over a similar shade to add some high shine! This is the NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Banana Split over NYX Matte Lipstick in Daydream.
Also today marks one year since I started this blog so happy blogiversary to me! Whoo!! I was really unsure about starting a blog in the beginning but I am so glad that I did! It’s brought me so much happiness, taught me a lot about makeup and gives me an excuse to hoard lipsticks. 😉 I always wanted to thank all of you guys for reading, commenting and just being awesome in general! <3 It means a lot.
