I’ve got to start this review by saying that I have been so pleasantly surprised by this lipstick! It’s not that I was ever really expecting it to be bad, I just didn’t realize how much I’d love it. The Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipsticks were released recently (I was just finally able to find them here!) and come in 10 beautiful shades. I decided on Touch of Spice and I think it’s pretty great!
The color is sort of a mauvey brownish pink and is very quickly becoming a favorite of mine. This color is exactly what my lipstick collection full of nudes and bold colors has been missing! Touch of Spice is obvious and noticeable without being too bold or attention grabbing. It’s like the perfect subtle, but definitely there, lip color.
I was also really pleased with the formula of this lipstick. While it isn’t completely matte, it’s still pretty matte. It is super creamy and smooth and glides easily across your lips with no skipping or dragging. It initially feels really moist and creamy but after about an hour or so, you lose some of that over-the-top creaminess but it still feels very comfortable and almost like nothing is on your lips. It begins to get a little dry after a couple of hours but it’s pretty slight. It’s still more comfortable and easy to wear than many mattes that I own. The lipstick also applies nice and opaquely with one swipe.
