MAC Pro Longwear Concealer Review

Packaging: Not at all a fan of this packaging. The pump works in a way that practically forces you to waste a ton of product. 4/10

Longevity: Long lasting and holds up very well throughout the day. 9/10

Application: Blends easily as long as you don’t wait too long. This product dries kind of fast for concealer. 8/10

Texture: Creamy and easy to spread. 8/10

Oh MAC Pro Longwear Concealer ($20), where do I start? I love you dearly but at the same time, you make me want to pull my hair out.

I’ve been using the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer almost exclusively for a while now and it’s turning into a serious love/hate relationship. On one hand, the formula is wonderful. It provides great, long lasting coverage with very minimal creasing and holds up well throughout the day. It’s practically everything I’ve ever wanted in a concealer, ignoring the fact that the packaging is utterly infuriating.

The MAC Pro Longwear Concealer comes in a 0.30 fl oz glass bottle with a pump. A pump from hell. One pump from this bottle dispenses way more concealer than most people will ever need to put on their face at one time. So what? You can just use half a pump or so, right? WRONG! This is one of those pumps where you apply light pressure, a little more pressure, still no concealer, just a tiny bit more pressure…BOOM! One full pump out of no where. I always try to not use a full pump but 9 times out of 10, I end up with a full pump regardless and then have wasted product.

This product sets pretty quickly so once you apply it to your face, you better be ready to blend it in and set it. Waiting around with the product already on your face causes it to start to dry and it will become difficult to blend. The finish is also a little dry so it’s best to moisturize before applying this but hey, you should be doing that anyway, right? 😉

Despite my complaints about the pump, I really do think this a great concealer and would probably repurchase it in the future. If you can get past the annoying packaging issues, there’s a lot to love here!

The only product on my face here is the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NC15 under/around my eye on the left side of the screen. Check out the difference it makes!

Have you tried the Pro Longwear Concealer? What do you think of it?

  1. I would say you rated this spot-on. My mother-in-law purchased this concealer this past weekend and while I like the product, the pump forces to much out. I was helping her apply her make up and one pump was to much for under the eyes. I practically wasted half of it.

    1. I know what you mean! It’s such a disappointment but I like the formula so much that I just continue fighting with it every day. lol

  2. Hi! Thanks for your review. I was wondering if you knew what the long-term effects would be if I used this product underneath my eyes on a daily/near-daily basis? In other words, do you think it would cause wrinkles, even if I used an eye cream as you suggest?

    1. I don’t believe there’s any definite proof in either direction as to whether or not such makeup products cause wrinkles because you can’t really have a control group. My best advice is to dab lightly to apply and blend the product, don’t pull and use a good eye cream. 😉
