What I’m Packing for Vacation

As some of you may already know, I’m leaving for vacation to Austria tomorrow and I’ll be away for about two weeks! This is kind of a big deal for me. I’ve never been out of the country before and I’ll be meeting my in-laws and the rest of my husbands family for the FIRST TIME!

With that being said, replies to comments, emails, etc. will be slow for a while but I’ll try to get back to everyone as soon as I can. I also have  a couple of posts, including one tutorial, set to publish while I’m away so keep your eyes peeled! O_O

So on to what I’m packing! These are some of my favorite products, “necessities”, and some things that are just really versatile/useful. I obviously could have packed much lighter but we’ve got room in the luggage and I like variety.

I’m not ashamed to admit that lip products are my weakness. I often have half a dozen lipsticks just hanging out in my purse so it was kind of hard for me to narrow it down to this many (I added NYX Sweet Pink afterwards! Oops.) but I think I’ve got my bases covered. NYX Matte Lipsticks in Butter & Forbidden, NYX Butter Gloss in Apple Strudel & Tiramisu, NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Hot Red & Plum, Maybelline Color Elixir in Signature Scarlet, MAC lipsticks in Ruby Woo, Diva & Please Me and finally Too Faced’s Lip Insurance for a little extra help on long days.

These are the products that I I’ve been using virtually every single day lately to create my base. I just picked up this MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NC15 a couple of days ago and I’m really loving it so far! It provides great coverage, lasts really well and the creasing is minimal. I’ll also be needing my Make Up For Ever’s HD Primer, Make Up For Ever’s HD Foundation in 117, NYX Matte Setting Spray & Make Up For Ever’s HD Loose Powder. As for that setting spray, I’m not really sure that it’s helping much so if anyone has suggestions for a good setting spray, I’m all ears!

I decided my eye shadow palette for the trip will be my beloved LORAC PRO Palette! To be honest, I hardly even considered any other palette. It’s super versatile and I especially like the way the golds/reds/warm browns in the palette look with blue eyes. Another total necessity here is my Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow. Gotta make sure my eyebrows stay in place through these long plane rides! Other things that I’m bringing with me are the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit, BH Cosmetics Glamorous Blush Palette, Benefit’s Watt’s Up Highlighter, Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara, Maybelline’s Colossal Waterproof Mascara, and tweezers.

You’d think the Lorac PRO Palette would be enough eye shadow but I decided to bring along MAC’s Blue Brown Pigment as well because duochrome colors like this make it easy to create a quick but complete eye shadow look. I’m also bringing along MAC’s Fluidline in Blacktrack, Make up For Ever’s Aqua Eyes in Matte Black, Tarte Skinny SmolderEYES in Purple Garnet, Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner and of course, a sharpener!

I think that looks like a pretty sufficient amount of makeup for a two week trip! Did I mention that I’m packing virtually all of this in my purse and my husbands laptop bag so that I can keep them on me at all times? I’ll also be bubble wrapping all of the palettes. I might be a tiny bit paranoid about my makeup getting damaged or lost.

Well, I’m off now! See you all again soon!

P.S. If anyone knows of some cool makeup that I should pick up in Austria that we don’t have here in the states, please tell me all about it!

  1. Ohh, have so much fun in Austria! I love those pictures and also, I think for two weeks you really constrained yourself with the lipsticks! Not gonna lie, I probably would’ve brought half my collection.

  2. MUFE has the best setting spray to me (better than UD because that didn’t even work for me). I use the matte spray. I spray it on my face before applying my makeup and I don’t even usually have to use it after I’m done applying my makeup and it locks in all of my oil for at least 8 hours.

    1. Thank you so much! I’m definitely going to check into that. I have a couple of UD ones too and didn’t really care for them either. Maybe MUFE will come through for me!

    2. This was also going to be my recommendation. I love my setting spray from them and you can even pick up travel friendly minis at Sephora.

      1. Ah, I didn’t know that! Sounds like a great way to try it out so I’m definitely going to have to swing by Sephora soon! =D

  3. Have fun in Austria, you are going to love it, it’s a beautiful country! I’m from Germany but most makeup on offer is the same in both countries!
As for drugstore make up, catrice and Manhattan make nice things, also if I remember correctly maxfactor makeup isn’t that readily available in the US so that could be worth a look! All in all you will find however that drugstore makeup is far better in the states, i.e. More colours, more product variety, lower prices etc… but then again, just seeing and trying out foreign makeup is half the fun really 🙂
Also I’m quite sure you can buy KIKO cosmetics in Austria! Their eyeshadows, nail polishes and lipsticks are lovely 🙂
Higher end brands are mostly the same as in the US. Oh, and the drugstores I know of would be dm and bila!
By the way, I’m loving your lipstick choices! I always pack waaaay too many 🙂
Hope my recommendations were a bit helpful!
Wishing you two a great holiday and good luck meeting the in-laws, I’m sure you’ll have an awesome time 🙂 x

    1. That is all extremely helpful! Thank you. I’m definitely going to try out some of those drugstore brands and I’ve heard a lot of good things about KIKO so I’d really like to get my hands on some of their products too! Is KIKO sold in certain stores or just their own store? Again, thanks so much for all the suggestions and kind words! I’m sure it’ll be great. =D

      1. Glad to be of any help 🙂 kiko have independent stores, I can’t remember ever seeing their products in department stores or the like.. I think they have a store finder on their website as well! x

  4. Hi! I I was wondering if you have a review of Kat Von D’s Tattoo liner? If so could you link me to it and if you haven’t done a review on it could you just let me know what you think about it? I’m really wanting to buy it because I’m in need I a new black liquid liner so bad. I. Have read reviews on Sephora but I’d like to hear your opinion on it please? Thank you! 🙂
Keep doing the beautiful thing you’re doing – you’re an amazing makeup artist!

    1. I do not have a review (I should!) but it’s my go-to liquid liner if that tells you anything. Whenever I run out, I order another! Nice sharp tip, opaque and really long lasting.
