Hey guys! I was playing around with my Makeup Geek eyeshadows the other day and came up with this lovely fall inspired look and I thought I would make a tutorial and share with all of you. If you’d like to see swatches of all of my Makeup Geek shadows and pigments, you can check those out here.
This is the look we’ll be creating today!
For this eyeshadow look I’ll be using:
Makeup Geek Peach Smoothie (light peach matte)
Makeup Geek Chickadee (yellow orange matte)
Makeup Geek Frappe (medium warm brown matte)
Makeup Geek Purely Naked (shimmery tan)
Makeup Geek Bada-Bing (deep brown w/ gold glitter)
I always start my eyeshadow looks by blotting my lids with an oil blotting sheet and applying my primer. I most often use Too Faced’s Shadow Insurance to keep my shadow in place all day and today is no exception. Use your finger to gently spread a small amount of primer all over your eye, from lash line to brow bone, in the inner corner and I always run a little along my lower lash line as well.
The Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick Set ($39) made it’s debut in time for the holiday season of 2014 but it’s been so popular that it seems to already be out of stock on www.sephora.com! Fear not, though. I just found this set in store at my local Sephora and they seemed to have plenty around so if you find yourself in dire need of this lipstick set, call your local Sephora’s and check!
Edit 11/1/2014: It seems to be back in stock at sephora.com!
Hey there! I just wanted to take a minute to share my pink and gold glitter look from the other day and tell you how I accomplished it.
For the eye shadow, I started with Makeup Geek’s Peach Smoothie as a transition shade. Next I grabbed my Too Faced Pretty Rebel Palette and applied Totally Fetch (hot pink) to the inner and outer corners of my eye and connected them through my crease. I then took Urban (medium vibrant purple) from the Urban Decay Electric Palette and used it to deepen the inner and outer corners of my lids, also connecting it through my crease. I left the center of my lids blank up until this point where I went back to the Pretty Rebel Palette and applied Instigator (bright gold) to the center of my lids. Time for the glitter! I brushed Urban Decay’s Bondage Makeup Adhesive over the gold eye shadow and pressed my glitter into the glue using a dense brush. I decided to opt out of eyeliner this day and just went straight to my favorite lashes, Siren from House of Lashes.
Packaging: Not at all a fan of this packaging. The pump works in a way that practically forces you to waste a ton of product. 4/10
Longevity: Long lasting and holds up very well throughout the day. 9/10
Application: Blends easily as long as you don’t wait too long. This product dries kind of fast for concealer. 8/10
Texture: Creamy and easy to spread. 8/10
Oh MAC Pro Longwear Concealer ($20), where do I start? I love you dearly but at the same time, you make me want to pull my hair out.
I’ve been using the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer almost exclusively for a while now and it’s turning into a serious love/hate relationship. On one hand, the formula is wonderful. It provides great, long lasting coverage with very minimal creasing and holds up well throughout the day. It’s practically everything I’ve ever wanted in a concealer, ignoring the fact that the packaging is utterly infuriating.
I know that I always love seeing how other people’s vanities are set up so I thought I should do a little tour of my own for those who are interested! I recently outgrew my old vanity so for my birthday I got this lovely little set up from IKEA. My makeup desk is made up using the Alex drawer unit, Alex add on unit and the Linnmon table top. The whole thing ran me about $150. Also, check out those windows on either side! I kind of lucked out with the vanity placement.
A little closer view overall view before we really get into it!
My main lipstick holder! I like to keep lipstick brands together for whatever reason so whatever lipstick brands didn’t quite fit into this holder are living together elsewhere on my vanity. Here I keep my MAC, Kat Von D, Too Faced, Urban Decay and YSL lipsticks. I picked up this handy little piece at The Container Store but there is a practically identical piece on Amazon.
MAC Styled in Sepia ($16) is part of MAC’s new The Matte Lip Collection which was released earlier this month. There are seven other gorgeous matte shades in the collection but Styled in Sepia really caught my eye as a unique color. Brown lipsticks are making a comeback lately and I couldn’t be happier!
Styled in Sepia is a medium-dark brown yet almost taupey shade. It has a matte finish but is still creamy enough to glide across lips without dragging or skipping. It wasn’t overly drying nor was it moisturizing. All in all, it was pretty comfortable to wear and wore well for several hours. I see myself wearing this shade a lot this fall!
Hey guys! I don’t think I share enough pictures of my daily makeup (FOTD = face of the day, btw!) on here so I’m going to try to change that. I might as well start by sharing a few pics from the last couple of days.
And now for a slightly less wearable look! 😉 Okay, a lot less wearable but I had fun doing it anyway. I used MAC Fluidline in Black Track with Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner in Glam Rock on top to create my glitter eyeliner. On my lips, I’m wearing NYX Chambord. Another NYX product that I’ve been using quite a bit lately is this awesome blue mascara you see on my lower lashes here! It’s surprisingly pigmented without any hassle. My brows were done using the Make Up For Ever Flash Palette. And last but not least, I’m wearing one of my favorite pairs of lashes here, Ardell 206’s, which I tragically broke later that night!
