I recently decided that I’m going to do a 100 Days of Makeup Challenge after seeing people on Instagram and around the web doing different makeup challenges. I’m not following any guidelines or rules, I’m just making myself do makeup every day for 100 consecutive days all while trying to learn as much as possible in that time.
I really want to push myself to improve and this seemed like a great and fun way to do so! I was only wearing makeup 4-5 days a week before this challenge and that left for 2-3 days a week where I’m not practicing and not learning anything! Of course, I don’t always feel like doing a full face every day but even when I don’t do a full face, I still plan on doing some sort of cool eye or lip look so I can get that sweet, sweet practice in! 😉
I know it’s early in the challenge but I already feel like it’s helping me a lot! Not long ago, I really struggled with cut crease looks. I would draw the line and then wipe it off and redraw it three more times before I would get it right and it usually got pretty frustrating. Lately I’ve done a couple of cut crease looks for the challenge and it’s already became pretty easy for me! No wiping off, just a little careful planning after realizing where I was messing up previously and ta-da! Cut crease.
Okay, so I counted my Sugarpill Tutorial for Day 1.
For this eye look I used the Melt Cosmetics Dark Matter stack for my eyeshadow, added Lit Cosmetics Glitter in Mexican Lucky to my inner corner and added some little dots to the outer portion of my eyes using various eyeliners. My lip combo here is MAC Stone lipliner + NYX Matte Lipstick in Butter with a dab of MAC’s Myth lipstick in the center.
You can see the dots a little better here!
Once again using the Melt Cosmetics Dark Matter stack here for my eyes! I paired it with Urban Decay’s eyeshadow in X and House of Lashes Siren lashes. On my lips I’m wearing Sephora’s Creme Lipstain in 07.
Party on my eyes! =P Went all out here. For the eyeshadow, I used shadows from Makeup Geek and Sugarpill’s Burning Heart Palette. To create the splatter effect, I used a small fan brushed and dipped it into some liquid lipsticks as well as mixtures that I made by combining eyeshadows and a mixing medium into a paste. Lashes are House of Lashes Siren.
This cut crease look was done using shadows from Urban Decay, Makeup Geek and my Coastal Scents 252 Palette! The glitter liner is by KIKO that I picked up while in Austria. I’m wearing Oh My Lash’s Admiration lashes and the blue mascara on my bottom lashes is NYX’s Color Mascara.
I needed a reason to use these giant lashes that I picked up a Halloween store and not many looks can support these mammoth lashes but I thought it was perfect here! For the eyeshadow, I used my LORAC Mega PRO Palette, the glitter is Ruby Slipper from Coastal Scents & the red liner in my waterline is Inglot’s 79.
For this eyeshadow look, I used Urban Decay’s Smoked Palette as well as Thrash from the UD Electric Palette. My lips are NYX’s Matte Lipstick in Butter again topped with NYX’s Butter Gloss in Tiramisu.
Once again, I’m wearing Oh My Lash’s Admiration lashes. As a side note, I got this pair plus three other pairs for FREE in their Lash Friday event! All I had to do was pay $6 in shipping. They’re supposed to be having another one of these events soon and while they aren’t releasing the exact date, I’ll let you guys know as soon as I find out! If you want, you can sign up for their notifications yourself at www.ohmy-lash.com
7 days down, 93 to go!
I am absolutely loving challenging myself so far and I can’t wait to see how much this challenge helps me over the course of 100 days! There’s only one way to improve and that’s to practice, practice, practice all while forcing yourself to step out of your comfort zone and try something new!
Have any of you tried any makeup challenges or have future plans to? Let me know what you think!
